Still from film exploring the poetics of growing up with a "shadow" and learning to fly.
Synopsis: On the shoreline between past and future, a young girl hovers on the edge of adolescence. She is haunted by her shadow who acts as a mother figure symbolizing attachment, nostalgia, responsibility and a fading innocence. Loosely referencing the novel "Peter Pan" and derived from a painting completed in 2010 by the director/performer Jan Brugger, this surreal dance film explores the poetics of growing up and learning to fly.
Still from film which abstractly examines the paranoia behind tobogganing political rights (specifically freedom of expression).
Synopsis: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? If freedom of speech is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, can American citizens express themselves without restrictions? In this surreal dance film, director/performer Jan Brugger, silenced by a monarch, abstractly examines the paranoia behind tobogganing political rights.
